Yoga & Muay Thai – Unbeatable Combo

Combining yoga with Muay Thai training offers a holistic approach to physical and mental well-being. The benefits of integrating these two practices are numerous and significant.

Yoga enhances flexibility, balance, and core strength, which are essential for performing Muay Thai techniques effectively. It also helps in improving breathing control and mindfulness, crucial elements in managing stress and staying focused during intense training sessions.

Reducing risk of injuries during Muay Thai Training

By incorporating yoga into Muay Thai training, practitioners can reduce the risk of injuries by increasing their body awareness and alignment. Yoga postures help in stretching and strengthening muscles, promoting better recovery after intense workouts. Additionally, the relaxation techniques learned in yoga can aid in reducing muscle tension, enhancing overall performance.

Our favourite spots include the ancient temple ruins in the city centre, where King Naresuan used to live; you will get a true idea of what it was like to train Muay Boran, the original form, of Muay Thai.

You will love the forest run up the mountain to train at another ancient side Muay Thai and Muay Boran with a breath taking view on Phitsanulok. The additional vegetarian breakfast in a nearby temple is perfect for a kickstart into the day.

Preparation Tips

What do I need to train at the JP Boxing Gym?

We get a lot of questions about what to bring with you when you come to train with us. Here is a checklist of essentials you will need:

  • Boxing Gloves: If you have your own, feel free to bring them. Otherwise, we have plenty of gloves at the gym available for you to use for free.
  • Hand Wraps: Highly recommended to protect your wrists. We have wraps in different colors with our gym brand available for purchase at our shop if you need them.
  • Boxing Shoes: Not needed. Muay Thai is practiced barefoot on our tatami mats.
  • Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is crucial. Refill your bottle at our gym water station, or purchase drinks from our gym fridge.
  • Appropriate Attire: Comfortable workout clothes that allow full range of motion.
  • Positive Attitude: Most importantly, bring determination, motivation, and a willingness to learn in every single session!
